A little about us

I’m so glad you are here reading all about how I became a new blogger, and my website came to be. I’m Stephanie and my hubby is Kimmey, and we are the Seymore’s. You can see where the inspiration for my website name came to be. To say I am a new blogger is an understatement. I’m about 2 1/2 months into this adventure. But I’m having a blast already.

We live in eastern NC and it’s beautiful but no mountains. We tend to head toward the mountains when we travel but we always enjoy coming back home! A good portion of our family lives near us so we miss them and home is nice to get back HOME to.

We have seven children, 6 boys and a girl from 36 to 19. Four of the kids are married and we have 6 grands, 5 boys and finally 1 girl. We do boys in our family, but we marry in some nice girls. We also have 3 bonus kids we brought into the family through our kids and with them we have 4 more grands. All boys of course. We travel as a whole family once a year for a week to either the beach or to a National Park. Our kids love travel, and we are getting the grands started early on the hiking and exploring.

Kimmey is a dentist who retired last year at 60 when he lost some of his vision in his left eye after an eye surgery. He had not contemplated retiring that early before the vision loss but now he actually sees it as a blessing since the decision was made for him and, he gets to enjoy travel and not feel bad that he’s not working. I’ve been busy raising kids and making memory quilts for others as a side hustle. Currently, when we aren’t traveling, we are babysitting the grandkids, quilting or volunteering at our church. We are always busy. And now, I can add new blogger to the list of things I love to do.

The grands love to travel and adventure already!

Stitching memories quilts

Just a few examples of my memory quilts that I have made for customers recently. I love to help people keep their memories right with them every day. I make all sizes from baby to king size, and it keeps me busy at home. My business is on Facebook and Instagram as Stitching Memories Quilts.

How did this all start?

Through the years raising our kids we loved to travel whenever we could get away. I would share our adventures on Facebook and Instagram with family and friends and friends would tell me I needed to get a website and be a new blogger. I had many older friends who couldn’t travel anymore or didn’t think they could do some of the adventures we do, and they would thank me for sharing. It was so humbling to think that people were appreciating me sharing what I was seeing and that they thought my pictures were good. After enough people pestered me to do this, I started looking into what it took to get a website and be a new blogger.

To all the people who encouraged me to become a new blogger, thank you! You were the encouragement I needed to start this website. Kimmey and I were both widowed young and we both realize that life is very short. God gave us a big, beautiful world and we love checking it all out. There is no time like the present and if I can help others who can’t get out and travel to see the world through this site than I am glad to do it. If I can give those that do want to get out and travel some ideas of places to go, I’m happy to do that as well.

How often do we travel??

Right now, we travel as often as we can while still getting things done at home. We watch 2 of our grandsons two days a week when we are home, we have some ministries we are involved with, and we miss everyone when we are gone. BUT we are also brand new empty nesters (our youngest is a sophomore at NC State–he wants to be a park ranger) and have the time to get out and go. Right now, we are trying to strike a good balance. But it’s not a joke to say I have the next year plus planned out pretty well, at least the big trips. We add short ones in as we can.

Our favorite thing to do in the summer now is to take a big road trip. The last two summers we have done 6 weeks driving across country in our Ford F150 with all our gear stashed in the back. It’s a blast. The best thing about being a new blogger is that I can take my computer on the road and write each evening. There are so many national parks, state parks and so many other fun, quirky things to see.

The more adventure the better!

We have so many things on our “to do” list. The more adventurous, the better right now. We feel like we are still pretty darn young and fit, so we need to do this hard stuff now. We’ve got to be a good example for those little people. My husband always asks me if I’m trying to kill him when he sees the adventure I have planned each day on a trip. But I remind him I would have no one to adventure with if I didn’t have my amazing travel buddy.

Research, research, research!!!

One of the things I love the most about being a new blogger is the research I do to plan trips and to find the information I share with you all. If I go somewhere I want to share more than the pictures so you learn a little something new. I love learning new things so the internet is my friend and I also collect all kinds of information as we travel places so I can share it with you. But being a new blogger is a lot of technology for this 50 something.

trip planning is the best and I can help you!

Planning our trips is half the fun for me. I love looking into the places we will be going. I spend a LOT of time on it to make sure I have all the info and don’t miss anything. I am surprised at how often I find out from people that they hate the planning part of travel. So, one of my goals with this website and being a new blogger is to offer my services in helping your plan your trip. I am putting together itineraries as we go places and if you are interested in the adventures we have had I can help you with your trip planning. You can get in touch with me for rates etc.

If I’m an expert on any area of the country it would be Hawaii and National Parks. I lived in Hawaii for 4 years and we travel there each year. I love to help people travel to see this beautiful state. There is so much amazing hiking and gorgeousness to see. If you want to read about one of our craziest Hawaii hikes check out this blog post of mine:

National Parks are our other big interest. We’ve been to 40 of the 63 National Parks and some of them several times. We are a bit obsessed with checking off the parks on our map in the kitchen. I’m positive we will get to all of them. Kimmey is not so sure about those two northern Alaska ones that you can only get to by airplane. We shall see. I’m organized and I love checking lists. I keep meticulous notes so I can help you plan National Park adventures.

Everyone needs a National Park pass and you can purchase yours online.

This new blogger thing is new and exciting and a learning process. Thanks for joining me as I take on this new journey. You can reach me at stephanieseymore67@gmail.com. I would love if you could like, comment on or share this blog post or even better do all 3. And please follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and X.

Keep exploring!

  1. Looks great! One editorial note, the word island was left out in the sentence “ we have been to every Hawaiian”. Love you
